JAMU FOR LEUKORRHEA

Jamu Recipes for Leukorrhea 

PATHO-PHYSIOLOGY:  
Leukorrhea is an abnormal, white discharge from the vagina. This flow indicates a congestion or infection either in the vagina, cervix, uterus or the Fallopian tube. Common causes are un-cleanliness, gonorhhoe, fungal or protozoan infections. Since the discharge may be caused by various conditions, it requires examination by a physician and a test of the discharge to identify the micro-organism responsible for this condition

INDICATIONS: A white discharge from the vagina

Recipe # 1 

INGREDIENTS:
Green chiretta (Andrographis paniculata, sambiloto) – 3 whole plants

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE:
Decoction: Clean wash the green chiretta plants and chop to small cuts. Put it in 4 glasses of pure water and let it boil until left to 2 glasses. Strain off after cooling. Add some honey for sweetener. Recommended dose: ¾ glass 3 times a day.

Recipe # 2

INGREDIENTS:
Mayana leaves (Coleus scutellarioides, daun iler/miana) – 10 leaves
Honey (madu) – sufficient amount

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE:
Decoction: Clean wash the mayana leaves, and boil in 3 glasses of pure water. Let it boil until left to 1½ glass. Strain off after cooling. Add the honey to enhance taste.

Recipe # 3

INGREDIENTS:
Betel leaves (Piper betle, daun sirih) - 10 leaves
Round turmeric (Curcuma xanthorrhiza, temulawak) – 1 finger-size cut
Turmeric (Curcuma domestica, kunyit) – 1 finger-size cut

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE:
Vaginal wash: Clean wash all ingredients and cut to small pieces. Boil in 1 liter of pure water for about 15 minutes. Use the liquid for vaginal washing while it is lukewarm. Do this regularly 2 times a day.

Recipe # 4 

INGREDIENTS:
Turmeric (Curcuma domestica, kunyit) – 1 finger-size cut
Tamarind (Tamarindus indica, asam Jawa) – 1 finger size cut
Palm sugar (gula enau) – adequate amount

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE:
Decoction: Peel and scrape the turmeric. Steep the tamarind in boiled water, and stir well until the tamarind dilutes. Add the palm sugar and the scraped turmeric to this tamarind extract. Strain off the mixture. Recommended dose: ¼ glass 2 times a day.

Recipe # 5 

INGREDIENTS:
Physic nut leaves (Jatropha Curcas – folia, daun jarak pagar) – 7 leaves

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE:
Vaginal wash: Clean wash and fine grind the physic nut leaves. Steep in boiled water, and strain after cooling. Use the strained liquid as vaginal wash.
