Jamu Recipes for Loss of Appetite

PATHO-PHYSIOLOGY: Loss of appetite is not a disease, but it’s rather a symptom that may appear in some diseases. The importance of treating appetite loss is to overcome body weakness due to inadequate intake of food and essential substances to build body immunity as well as to prevent the possibility of developing malnutrition

INDICATIONS
: Loss of appetite

Recipe # 1
 

INGREDIENTS:
Papaya flowers (Carica papaya, bunga papaya gantung) – ¼ handful
Zingiber zerumbet rhizome (rimpang lempuyang gajah) – ½ finger-size cut
Cardamom seeds (Elettaria cardamom, biji kapulaga) – 3 seeds
Ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale, rimpang jahe) – ½ finger-size cut
Long pepper (Piper retrofractum, cabe jawa) – 3 pieces
Caesalpinia crista (akar kelengkeng) – 1 finger-size cut
Palm sugar (gula enau) – 3 finger-size cut

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE:

Decoction: Clean wash all ingredients and boil in 4 glasses of pure water. Boil until left to 3 glasses. Strain after cooling. Drink the decoction ½ glass 3 times a day

Recipe # 2
 

INGREDIENTS:
Papaya leaves (Carica papaya, daun papaya muda) – 1 handful fresh young leaves
Honey (madu) – adequate amount

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE:

Clean wash the fresh young leaves and grind to fine mushy substance. Put it into 1 glass of warm water and add the honey. Then squeeze and strain the juicy liquid. Drink the decoction ½ glass 3 times a day

Recipe # 3
 

INGREDIENTS:
Tinospora crista – stalk (batang bratawali) – 1 stalk
Black turmeric (Curcuma aeruginosa, temu hitam) – ½ finger-size cut

PREPARATION AND DOSAGE
:
Bruise the two ingredients and boil in 3 glasses of pure water. Let boil until left to 1½ glasses of the decoction. Drink it ½ glass 3 times a day.
