Jamu Recipes for Halitosis (Bad Breath)
Halitosis is the bad smell originated from the upper gastro intestinal tract, particularly the mouth and stomach. Poor mouth hygiene is the major cause of halitosis as well as neglected dental caries and the failure to maintain teeth and gum health. An empty stomach and gastritis may also cause halitosis. Although there is no physical impairment, halitosis is an annoyance to other people and may affect the social activities of a person.
Recipe # 1
INGREDIENTS:
Firefly shrub (Pluchea indica, daun beluntas)
Young turmeric leaves (Curcuma domestica, daun kunyit muda)
Basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum, daun kemangi)
PREPARATION AND DOSAGE:
Clean wash all the leaves and serve them as “lalap” or raw vegetables as an addition to other dishes. Eat this “lalap every day.

INGREDIENTS:
Betel leaves (Piper betle, daun sirih) – 5 leaves
PREPARATION AND DOSAGE
Clean wash the leaves and boil in 2 glasses of pure water and let it boil until left to 1 glass only. Add a little salt and stir well. Drink this ½ glass once a day, every day.
